The Inner Meaning of Easter

The celebration of Easter represents the rising in consciousness from believing you are a body, to the rebirth of awakening to who you are as a divine, perfect, spiritual being. The cross symbolizes crossing over from your personality to awakening to your spiritual identity. The cross is the union of positive and negative, harmony and wisdom, life and death.

Easter is a universal festival. The ancient Babylonians, Egyptians, Norsemen and Scandinavians worshipped the Egg, thus, the symbol of the egg is a universal symbol. It represents life and fertility. The word Easter closely resembles names of different Pagan goddesses—Ishtar, Ostara, and the Greek Astarte. All the ancient stories centered upon birth, death and rebirth. Then for the world of Christians, what sets Jesus apart from other stories and traditions? This is the Mystery of Easter. This is the Passion of the Cross. This sets apart the believers from the non-believers.

Many times my pastor would say “God decided to walk on earth so put Himself in a body called Jesus.” Jesus came and fulfilled the ancient prophecies. Jesus was the living symbol of all the ancient traditions, beliefs and rituals. He brought the ancient celebrations into the body and lived them, explaining the living significance and how we are all connected to the same vibration and Universal Consciousness. He was the flesh and blood of God. And to this day, intellectuals, philosophers and scientists are still arguing and trying to figure out if He really did resurrect His physical body after the crucifixion.

The late Dr. Gene Scott wrote a series of articles titled, Jesus Christ: Super-Nut or Super-Natural. In these articles he explains that after the resurrection of Jesus, His appearance to Peter and then 500 followers, the apostles went forth into the world to proclaim the teachings of Christ and how He rose from the dead. All the disciples died terrible deaths because of their beliefs, yet never once swayed from their story. Dr. Scott writes: The disciples were either lying and knew it, or they were honest and truthful men reporting facts as they experienced them. Thus the fundamental issue of the resurrection boils down to the veracity of the reporters. If the disciples were dishonest men fabricating a story, however clever that may be, they deserve no respect. The other alternative is that these were HONEST MEN who reported on the most astounding fact of history. When this inevitable dichotomy closed in upon me in my experience, I had to settle the question myself…. and after three and a half years of hard study…. I was convinced I was confronting honest men giving honest reports of the astonishing happening of the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.

Let this Easter be your day of rebirth and regeneration. Renew your life. Set new goals. Allow yourself to go within to your personal soul sanctuary where you can connect with the God of your Heart and say hello to your personal relationship with the Father of Lights.

Whatever your personal belief and experiences may be, I wish you joy, blessings and abundance for this beautiful time of year.
